What people like about London is the "spicy" contrast between a lugubrious and ornate Victoriana and a spritely and trashy modernity. This is something I endeavoured to capture in this heavily filtered photographic print that I created following a visit to the centre of our Empire.
The "coiled fish" lamp post on the left is a common site along the Thames, whilst in the background you can see the garish profusion of modernity in the skyline of the more blatantly "commercialistic" zone. The colour inversion is therefore ironic -- and thus quintessentially British.
