In recent days the world has heard of Alexander Dugin, due to an attempted assassination in which his daughter died. The world has also been told that he is "Putin's brain" or a modern-day Rasputin figure. The fact is, however, that Putin's recent actions align pretty closely with Dugin's "Eurasianist" philosophy. In 2014, in the aftermath of the Sochi Winter Olympics, I had the opportunity to do an audio interview with him. We ended up talking about many things, but with a focus on the Japanese and East Asian aspect of his geopolitical philosophy. In 2022 I turned this into a YouTube video.
